Nature in cities - our ‘green’ infrastructure
What does nature in cities mean to us here in Brisbane? …and what might it mean to the people who visit us from around the world in 2032 and afterwards?
These are really important questions as we plan and think about what nature in cities means to Europeans, to Canadians, to Japanese, Chinese, Thai and so many others who we hope will come and visit us Uin Australia. From 2032 they will bring a ‘2032 eyed view’ of what they expect. In much of Europe this means re-wilded parts of cities and meadows around towns, LOTS of vertical walls and embedded plants and animals in urban areas, green roofs, and places to walk in natures as part of every day life - whether it is along a canal, a stream, across a park or in the intent lines across parks.
How can Brisbane 2032 be more nature positive? how can we express our identifies and share the joy of the bush chook, our green tree frogs, kangaroos, koalas, and all of the wonders that are our green infrastructure?
What should we be learning and thinking about now as we embark on our legacy shaping investments to enable the Games here to be amazing?
